Chiro 101- The Basics
Chiropractic is a greek word. "Chiro" meaning "hand" and "pracitc" meaning "to do" or "to practice". Essentially, it means done by hand. Chiropractors train for many years to use their hands to assess motion and misalignments of the joints, particularly the spine. Why the spine? Because we are primarily concerned with neurology. The nervous system runs through the spine, so it is most easily accessible there.
When joints become misaligned, normal movement is distorted, which can interrupt the normal nervous system signal. Thus, information sent back and forth between the mind and body is distorted. This can result in symptoms such as pain, abnormal or limited motion, poor performance, behavior changes, or other poorly defined and/or unexplained symptoms.
Muscles compensate for distorted motions and leave other muscles overworked and/or strained. This creates imbalance. Over time, it leads to abnormal wear and tear and degeneration in the joints that will continue until corrected. Though pain may subside on its own, this does not resolve the problem.
Chiropractic adjustments can restore normal alignment and motion to the joints. This not only prevents further damage, but allows the natural recuperative powers of the body to work without interference. It is safe, effective, and
all natural. It works on spines of all kinds - not just humans. Sometimes you or your animal companion just 'ain't doing right'. Find out if chiropractic can help. A special note regarding
