Julie Flora, D.C.
Chiropractic Physician

In harmony with nature is the philosophy at Meadowland Chiropractic and for its founder, Dr. Julie Flora.  She believes the further we move away from our natural state, the more "dis - ease" we feel in our mind, body, and spirit.   We often seek healing alternatives that will bring us back to nature.

Julie first discovered chiropractic as a teenager, after several years of 'unexplained' excrutiating pain.  Frustrated, she sought the help of a chiropractor and became a strong advocate for chiropractic care.  When she decided to make a career change, chiropractic seemed like a natural choice.

Dr. Flora has a passion for the outdoors and enjoys just about any activity that will get her out in nature.  She spent 15 years working in the fields of forestry, fish and wildlife biology, and environmental conservation before becoming a chiropractor. Her love of animals guided her to further expand her clinical skills, and she completed a post-doctoral animal chiropractic program in 2008.

Susan Unes
RYT 200
Yoga Instructor

After suffering from chronic pain, Susan started practicing yoga and soon learned the benefits of it as a therapeutic approach to stress and pain.  Her personal discovery of the transformative power of yoga inspired her to teach.

Susan began teaching yoga in Chicago after completing a teacher training with Erich Schiffman.  After moving back to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area in 2007, Susan continued her training, completing a 200 hour teacher training with Yogahome, Cincinnati.

Registered with the Yoga Alliance, Susan is also a member of IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) and CYTA (Cincinnati Yoga Teacher's Association).  She devotes her energy and creativity to designing classes that are warm, friendly, and safe, and believes the most important aspect of yoga is honoring your practice and your body with wisdom, compassion, and patience.  Her styles include Hatha, Yin Yoga and Vinyasa Flow and she is looking forward to continuing her training in Yoga Therapy and working toward a 500 hour teacher training.

The name Meadowland is a loose translation of Native American words describing Kentucky.

Kentucky land was long considered sacred. Vastly biodiverse and rich in natural resources, it provided an abundance of wild animals, forest foods, and medicinal plants and herbs.

The rich agricultural history of Alexandria and southern Campbell county continues today.  Both traditional and alternative agri-businesses can be found here.

Thus, Meadowland Chiropractic seemed a fitting name for this holistic healthcare center. We are devoted to natural healing and hope to both celebrate and protect our resources that come 'from the meadow'.
